What is Zoptopz?
Zoptopz™ is an innovative urban lifestyle brand and the original creators of the patent-pending “Crimped and Curled Caps”, with designs for cap brims that are shaking up the headwear market. Zoptopz is revolutionizing the look of the baseball cap with brims that are no longer flat or curved. Our brims have unique shapes that are Crimped, Curled, Bent, and Warped. Baseball caps are not about baseball anymore – they are about fashion. And we’re cranking things up at Zoptopz by putting a crimp in your style and in your hat.
What’s up with the unusual caps?
The idea of “taking a twist on the ordinary baseball cap” led to the innovation of Zoptopz. Zoptopz are unlike any other cap you’ve ever seen or worn. They have the most innovative brims (bills). They are probably the first real innovation and evolution in the shape and style of six-panel baseball caps since at least the 1950s, and perhaps even farther. We’ve seen all sorts of innovations in every aspect of style, but cap brims have remained the same throughout the ages. Zoptopz’ patented, trademarked, and copyright protected brim shapes are literally bringing a new twist to the stodgy baseball cap market.
Zoptopz caps provide an amazing canvas for creative designs that surpasses what is available to current brands and cap designers. Instead of just designing for the six panels of the cap and a flat brim, we currently offer four different patented, trademarked, and fully IP protected brim designs: M, Wave, Kurl, and Krimp that greatly expand the uniqueness and creativity of cap designs.
In addition, our caps are designed as premium products from the very button on the top of the cap to the very bottom of the bill. We use our own stretch-fit technology that provides a fitted look without specific sizing. Our caps are lined on the inside with red polyester stretch satin that gives it an extra feeling of luxury. Our caps also have custom inside seam tape ribbons with our brand and a brand tag that oozes luxury with Silver Lurex thread.
The Original Four Brim Shapes: Krimp, M, Wave, and Kurl
Zoptopz offers the most original caps on the market. Each quality cap is lined with satin and features fantastic patterns. The four patent-pending brim styles are Krimp, M, Wave and Kurl:
- Krimp is like an electric shock to your old fashioned flat brimmed baseball cap. The zig-zag, corrugated shape brim brings shock and awe to the fools who rock a hat that’s been the same since the 1950s.
- When you want a cap with more, go for our M cap. It features sharp and solid angles. This is like having four flat brims in one hat.
- For those who like to roll with the punches we have the Wave. The Wave rolls smooth like double Dutch ropes. It makes people look twice, without being in your face.
- The most outrageous cap we offer (and that’s saying something!) is the Kurl. Imagine the most insane vert halfpipe there could ever be… now you have an idea of what the brim of the Kurl is like. This cap is for the boldest person out there.
All of these wild brims are offered in a range of solid colors as well as unique Zoptopz patterns and Zoptopz brand embroideries (including our trademarked Double-Zs and Mr. Zopz Zebra). They also are offered as blanks to make a great platform for your own personal designs. In addition, Zoptopz offers limited edition lines, including original airbrush designs, as well as private labels for brands that want the Zoptopz look combined with their own brand identity.
How did Zoptopz Start?
Around 2005, the founder of Zoptopz noticed that baseball caps, especially the New Era 5950s (59fifty) were really starting to get hot as a fashion item. The latest trend was wearing caps with super-flat brims, some even with the stickers still on them – as if they could be placed back on the shelf. At some point, however, the fascination with the flat brim on a traditional cap would come to an end. Even more important, the baseball cap in its current form has exhausted all the possible ways it can be innovated – worn backwards, forwards, flat brim, curved brim, lots of embellishment, little embellishment… for people to realize more creativity and innovation from their baseball caps, something had to change. After all, the baseball caps that people wear now (especially the 59fifties) were invented in the 1950s and fashion mavens and style trend-setters need something new!
More importantly, people are starting to see caps as more than just souvenir / sports apparel wear. They are status symbols. They are fashion icons. Premium caps (that sell over $30) are now becoming a lot more common. People buy caps that go with their outfits, even if they sport logos and teams they don’t necessarily support. How many times have you seen someone wearing a cap not for the team that’s on the front, but for the shade of blue or brown? Zoptopz believes that if you are going to be spending money on premium caps, you should want something that really stands out as a fashion item – not something developed over sixty years ago with little room for innovation.
Baltimore’s Got it Going On
Zoptopz is the ish. We are a brand straight out of Baltimore. If you don’t know, B’more is known as the “City of Firsts”. The star spangled banner was written here.
